DEXTER AND THE MOONROCKS
Hailing from the heart of Texas, Abilene-based rock band, Dexter and the Moonrocks, continues to build their own sonic tapestry of Southern Alternative music that their dedicated fanbase has lovingly deemed “Western Space Grunge”. The journey began with the release of their breakout single "Couch" in August of 2021, taking the internet by storm. Riding the momentum and wanting to serve their fans with more music, the band unleashed their self-titled EP, featuring subsequent fan-favorites like "Where I Steer" and "Behave".
Comprised of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist James Tuffs, lead guitarist Ryan Anderson, bassist Ty Anderson, and drummer Fox, Dexter and The Moonrocks draw inspiration from a diverse range of musical influences like Nirvana, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, and Whiskey Myers. The work defies genre boundaries, as their sound continues to snowball into growing audiences and deeply passionate fandom across the U.S.
Now, as they prepare to unveil their 2nd EP, "Western Space Grunge," the band is poised to deepen their imprint on the US Rock scene. Their first single - “Sad In Carolina” - lays the foundation for the unique blend of classic grunge-rock tones paired with the hard-hitting, guttural lyricism that sets up the fan to further buy into the unique world that this band is building. With six dynamic tracks coming out this Summer, Dexter and The Moonrocks are set to further illustrate the Y’allternative aesthetic and tone that fans have been adopting in the underground scene for years, proving that ‘Cowboy’ doesn’t always have to mean ‘Country’.
